"GOTCHA" EVENTS
"YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CANNOT HIDE"
PAN-FALMOUTH CHALLENGE
We plan to have a Pan-Falmouth Challenge, where families would ride their bikes from North Falmouth to Woods Hole (11.5 miles) on the Shining Sea Bikeway.
The children of the parish, in our faith formation program and those who attend catholic schools continue seeking the support of grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors etc. for their loose pennies (pennies only). Our goal is to collect 1,000,000 pennies for Fatima Hall.
The Pan - Falmouth Challenge involves riding bicycles the full length of Falmouth with an opportunity to meet other parishioners.
Fatima Hall Ride – Pan Falmouth Challenge T-Shirts
Adult monitors and riders at all intersections
Falmouth Police at Route 28 (Woods Hole Road at Elm Street)
Bottled water at half way mark
Pizza at the end (Church of the Messiah or Saint Joseph’s)
SAINT ANTHONY’S GOLF TOURNAMENT
A golf tournament, raffle, silent auction and banquet, will be held next September or June (so college students could be involved). It would be an annual event and the proceeds of that golf tournament would to go toward supporting the programs and operations of Fatima Hall.
Most likely at Falmouth Country Club
Reception at the Coonamessett Inn
A twenty-one member steering committee has been formed to work out the details and begin the planning for this event

HOW "GOTCHA" STARTED
It absolutely amazing to me how a “Gotcha” can cause the level of curiosity to rise in this community and the lengths that some people have gone to find out what is in my head.
We have already held a whole series of events designed by the Parish Council to be fun and to be available to the parish. I’m referring to events like:
The Sunset Cruise
The Six Flags Trip
The Patriots Training Camp
“Waterfire” in Providence
A Christmas Trip to New York City
For the most part these types of events are printed in the weekly bulletin and listed on our website, not a great deal of work in preparation.
Early one morning, about three o’clock I had an idea to continue these types of events but to get more people involved and have fun in the process, if these were not going to be fun, I didn't want to do them. My goal was simply to have greater participation from parishioners and influence our parish life with fun activities at the same time. It is not just about praying together it’s about playing together as well.
My idea was four different events, each of them with several parts.
Halloween Activity
Christmas Parade
Pan-Falmouth Challenge
Saint Anthony’s Golf Tournament
These events are great fun and continue to generate interest in our parish. More activities and events will follow.
That’s my Idea, will you continue to help me make it real? Let me know by clicking "contact us"
OCTOBER 31, 2009
What do we associate with the last day of October - Halloween - and what do we associate with Halloween - costumes and parties. With that day there are other events and activities, what can be more fun than Halloween. Last year Halloween was on a Saturday and we had a haunted cemetery.
My idea was to use the natural scariness of the cemetery at night, not doing anything in the cemetery itself, but to use the half-mile border road of our cemetery and on the opposite side of the road from the cemetery to have “haunted events”.
After “traveling” through the haunted cemetery, everyone returned to the basement of the church for a make your own sundae event, for the kids and their parents.
The next day, Sunday, November First was All Saints Day and we had the kids dress up again but not as ghosts and goblins, but as saints, and their costumes were the homily of that day. Mass was
followed by doughnuts, juice, coffee etc in the church basement.
The work involved was fun and involved all different ages
Haunted scenes
Ice cream sundae event
Doughnuts and costumes.
CHRISTMAS PARADE
Last year St. Anthony's had a wonderful float in Falmouth's Christmas Parade. The theme was world peace, and my idea was to build something that would look like the front of our church, to have the doors wide open with a sense of light and welcoming. On the float were flags of different nations that represented the rich ethnic tradition of our parishioners and reflected our diversity. Walking along with the float we had parishioners handing out invitations to join us at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church Hall for punch, hot chocolate and Christmas cookies made by parishioners of St. Anthony's. Pictures may be seen in the Photo Gallery.
PAN-FALMOUTH CHALLENGE
My idea is to have a Pan-Falmouth challenge, where families would ride their bikes from one of two locations. From the church to Fresh Pond Hall and from the Portuguese-American Club to Fresh Pond Hall.
The children of the parish, in our faith formation program and those who attend catholic schools have been seeking the support of grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors etc for their loose pennies (pennies only). the goal is to collect 1,000,000 pennies for Fatima Hall.
The pan Falmouth challenge would involve riding bicycles from one location, meeting a family and entrusting them with your pennies to bring back to the church. The pennies would be counted and rolled.
SAINT ANTHONY’S GOLF TOURNAMENT
I have only played golf once in my life; my freshman year in college, and that story is for another time.
I don’t know much about golf tournaments, but everybody tells me they are great fun. Most tournaments beyond the golf have significant raffles and a banquet. I would like to have a golf tournament and have it be an annual event and have the proceeds of that golf tournament to go toward the building and operations of Fatima Hall.
Saint Elizabeth Seton Parish of North Falmouth had their last golf tournament and I understand they normally raise about $65,000.00

PRIEST
This window depicts a priest celebrating the Eucharist; the Mass is central to our worship and to our lives of faith.

ANCHOR
A symbol both of boating but also of faith. The flame and the cross indicate the living life of faith.

FISHERMAN
The ocean is such a part of the life of parishioners of this Cape Cod community; this window reflects the hard work of the fisherman.
